A New Cape Town Production Season At Prinz
By: Sebastian Prinz   (2014-10-16)

Spring has arrived in South Africa and we’re looking forward to a sparkling new production season here at our Cape Town head office. Our first bookings kicked off at the end of September with Mamas and Papas returning and we are already getting busy as the weather warms up to summer!

South Africa is the most cost-effective location world-wide and renowned for offering ‘the whole world in one country” The variety of locations on offer is limitless. We have modern architecture, pristine white beaches, desert landscapes, evergreen forests, dramatic mountains, historic buildings and contemporary villas. Our huge blue skies and wonderful weather are another big drawcard. Then there is our renowned hospitality, top accommodation and excellent wine and cuisine, not to mention the world class infrastructure that makes shooting here hassle free.
Come and experience South Africa for yourself and we’ll show you the very best of our beautiful country.

Prinz Productions has just been facilitating two exciting productions in Mauritius and enjoying the stunning beaches and balmy tropical days in this beautiful island location.

Hot topic in our industry - Update on Visa Regulations
The SAASP (South African Association of Stills Producers) is currently working on addressing recent changes in immigration regulations and is petitioning the government to make the visa application process quicker and easier for all our international clients.
The current status is that foreign nationals working here on film or stills productions need to apply for a S11.2 work authorization in person at a South African High Commission abroad, with a letter of invitation from the service company in South Africa. Prinz Productions can assist you with all the information needed and will update you on any future changes.

Where to Stay in Cape Town
A few of our top favourite Cape Town hotels, which combine great vibe, central location, efficient and friendly service and good value:

Cape Milner

The upbeat Cape Milner is newly renovated and ready to go for the season. General Manager, Jeremy Flowerday, tells us what our clients can look forward to:
“The new design and style encapsulate the modern yet luxurious feel of today’s hotels with colourful, fun and funky artworks and upholstery. Our new Glass Lounge is a serene place to relax and reflect during the day and a meeting place at night for a signature cocktail or a light bite with friends and colleagues. The stylish new deck around the salt water pool area has been enlarged and made of an eco-friendly material.  The business of filming all day long is a tiring one and we recognize the importance of a warm welcome back to the hotel. Our staff at the Hotel are friendly and eager to please and will go out of their way to make all guests happy.”

Hippo Boutique Hotel

An old and enduring favourite of our regular clients is the hip and relaxed Hippo Boutique Hotel with its very comfortable and spacious rooms just off trendy Kloof St. Sleek decor, high-speed internet and a host of cafes and eateries on the doorstep make it an excellent base for a production team in Cape Town.

15 on Orange

A funky and sophisticated luxury hotel that we’d love to use more often is 15 on Orange, known as the fashion icon of Cape Town hotels with its design flair and dramatic retro glitz. There’s also a rooftop swimming pool and sumptuous spa if your production schedule and budget allow.
